Steve Arrington was the front man for the 70’s and 80’s band, Slave. He helped pioneer a sound that spawned every genre of electronic music in the last 40 plus years. Legendary pop surrealist artist Ron English just had an art opening last Saturday at X On Main Gallery. For the first time in 25 years he’s exhibiting his photographs. The show is called Between Two Scenes. Before painting a naked Marilyn Monroe with Mickey Mouse breasts and combining President Obama and Lincoln’s face to create Abraham Obama, English was a photographer. Del the Funky Homosapien, DJ Kid Koala and Dan the Automator are Deltron 3030. In 2000 they debuted their classic conceptual self-titled album that, at the time, may have seemed far reaching. Although the plot line was choppy, it was about a futuristic world ruled by corporations. Their next project, Event II via Bulk Recordings is dropping October 1st. 31-year-old Marissa Alexander was sentenced to 20 years in prison for firing warning shots near her abusive husband, Rico Gray and his two sons. She claimed that her husband had been abusing her for nearly a year, in some instances, choking and punching her. Marissa was charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
