Artist SpY put together this buggie instillation on the side of a building in Madrid. 150 fake cameras on a grid, pointed in a single direction. It’s an obvious, simple, but effective symbol for social commentary on the invasion of privacy. The fact that they’re fake cameras does little to diminish their significance, unless you know it’s an art project. It’s enough to disrupt a pedestrian’s day, as if the NSA decided to be cute. Images from the book Chinese prints 1950-2006 in the Ashmolean Museum were recently posted on 50 Watts. The site featured a collection of these ill prints ranging from otherworldly to everyday life. Apparently George Zimmerman is a painter. He sold a painting on eBay for $100,099.99. It was to help him raise funds to pay part of the $2.5 million he owes his legal team. On the same day eBay removed an anti-racist oil painting, “A Tale of Two Hoodies” by artist Michael D’Antuono. Floridian artist and humanitarian activist Swoon has a show, “Motherlands” that just opened at Galerie LJ. MizLiz via Fecal Face shot this video interview of her talking about the concept behind “Motherlands.” The visuals look like sort of a compilation from her past shows.
