Netherlands tech designer and inventor Dave Hakkens is trying to kill two birds with one stone; reduce disposable cellphone pollution by using upgradable phones with interchangeable parts. They’re called Phonebloks. It’s a noble idea and it looks cool minus the round Apple corners (who seems to be content with treading water after their leader died). Hakkens had his first go at trying to raise funds was through kickstarter for what he called a Plug Book. His goal was $45 G’s. He got close, but it didn’t happen. For Phonebloks, he’s using Thunderclap, an official online petition for messaging. Hakkens’ campaign ends October 29th. Sign here.
