Painter and street artist Dan Witz is up in the Jonathan Levine Gallery. His solo exhibition opens April fifth at six PM in NYC. Witz was at first, just a punk kid going to art school at Cooper Union, hitting up punk shows at places like CBGB’s, playing in garage bands and getting animalistic in mosh pits. Believe it or not, this Brooklyn-based artist started off wandering The Big Apple, painting meticulously detailed humming birds on public spaces. He wasn’t …

This is a super buggy animated video for “Space Cadet,” off Australian producer Flume’s 2013 four-disc deluxe edition. One of the discs is a mixtape full of notable names. “Space Cadet” features Autre Ne Veut and Ghostface Killah on the track. In the video Autre Ne Veut is a three-headed character rocking mohawks. Ghostface is spitting on top of a step pyramid that shoots lasers. The video is directed by Jim Dirschberger and Jay Howell. They work on Nickelodeon’s “Sanjay and Craig.” The animation itself …

Artists created work out of music media materials like records, boomboxes, homemade show flyers and zines. In addition, some artists combined visual and audio elements in their work to create a multi-sensory experience. It’s a bit of a personal affair for …
New York University drop-out-rapper Jean Grae, and now writer, director, producer and star of the sitcom Life With Jeannie mise well have bloody scalps dangling around her neck. The show is surprisingly pretty funny, something you’d expect on Adult Swim. It’s exactly what the title suggests, except it’s a rare take on young black adults (Jeannie and friends) talking shit and getting all existential. You can sorta tell she might not act that different if the camera wasn’t pointed at …
