Actor Warwick Davis (Return of Jedi, Willow, Leprechaun, Harry Potter, Life’s Too Short) investigates the story of the Ovitz family (the only surviving family of Jewish little people entertainers from the Nazi concentration camp in Auschwitz, Germany) in the 2013 documentary The Seven Dwarfs of Auschwitz. Warwick Davis takes a look at the persecution (and eventual extermination) faced by those deemed undesirable by the Nazi German state (Jews, Romani, LGBT, little people, disable people etc.), and tries to discover the story behind the Ovitz family’s unique survival from death at the hands of their Nazi captors at Auschwitz. The Seven Dwarfs of Auschwitz is another look at a time in history not too different from our current turbulent present where human cruelty towards on another reached levels of psychosis and depravity, and how a family of little people by their wit and luck managed to survive such dangerous times.
